What Will I Stand For?

In Plumb’s song, I Need You Now, she sings about everybody’s got a story to tell. Everybody’s got a wound that needs to be healed. We live her words because on varying levels, we crave to be heard. We need to be valuably acknowledged.

I see an increase in You Tube videos ranging from motivational to financial gain to dangerous stunts. In our own way, we author a desire to use our voice. Paul writes in Ephesians that we’ve all been given a gift: “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Eph 4:11-12 NKJV).

More blogs and books are being published, including ones from the author you’re reading. I’m included in the “we” for wanting to be noticed and recognized. God reminds me often that I matter, especially in the writing from Romans, Corinthians, Colossians, and Ephesians. “I cannot be separated from the love of God” (Rom. 8:35-39) and “I am God’s workmanship” (Eph. 2:10) are two of my truth platforms.

There seems to be a push for people to take a stand on their beliefs. I stand for encouraging people, as Paul taught about edifying the body of Christ. Before I can take a solid stand, I need to take a knee. How does God want me to encourage others? What can God use in me to uplift another person?

As my daily reminder carved in (internet) stone, “Lord, guide me to start each minute from the ground up. Show me what I am to stand for, but first show me what I am to kneel for.”
