Sleet.

Snow.

Ice.

The perfect storm for East Tennessee to panic and dash to the grocery.

I sometimes wonder if chicken, dairy, and grain farmers have an alliance with weather reporters.

Case in point. Last week, meteorologists predicted snow by day and freezing rain by night. With our curvy hilly terrain, ice can shut us down for days. Fully stocked shelves dwindle, and it seems like the milk, bread, eggs, toilet paper and beer aisles get hit hardest.

I see the importance of toilet paper, but what makes milk, bread, eggs and beer most appealing when storms are predicted? Do snow and ice somehow spark a hankerin’ for French toast with a beer chaser?

No statistics. No point to prove today. Simply an observation to ponder. May your heart be full of love and your bellies filled with French toast (I’ll leave the suds in the bucket).

Stocking up on maple syrup,

Christina
