I sent Hip Waders: A Naked View of the Soul to my editor last week. We believe the book will hit bookstores early 2024. (Hip Waders will be book #7. Whew!) Hip Waders is written in the style of what’s been my most popular book, Knee Deep: A 9-Month Whirlpool of Handwritten Letters to the Creator. It seems that people appreciate what I wrote as conversations from my prayer closet.
As a reward for finishing Hip Waders, I’ve treated myself to a break from writing on deadline and enjoyed more read time, simply out of love for books.
For countless reasons, these are my game changer books from summer 2023. I believe some of them will become pivotal in my life’s defining and developmental process. In no particular order:
Top 7 Books of Summer 2023
The Rocking Chair Prophet by Matthew Kelley
The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie
Joy in the Morning by Betty Smith
What You Can Feel, You Can Heal by John Gray
Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnauch
The Purringest Kitty Finds His Home by Rita M. Reali & Dee Lynk
Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl (audio). Selma Blair narrates, and I forget it’s not Anne speaking!
I’ve also discovered a love for poetry thanks to Wes Sims, Lynda Lambert McKinney, Pat Hope, and Anne Harrison McBryant (spelling?) to name a few favorite poets.
I picture heaven to include endless conversations with authors who’ve impacted me. I hurt when I think how empty my life would be if I couldn’t read.
Grateful for literacy teachers,
Christina
